The Hills of Barona

Slot machines ticking,
I'm still winning.
The streak keeps rolling,
The grind keeps going.

I bet more and more,
The cash flows more and more,
The Saintsmen come more and more,
We all win more and more.

I bet bigger,
I continue to win bigger,
I bet even bigger,
Now I'm ready to go bigger.

I'm in my zone,
More chips enter for me to throw,
I am now on a throne,
I can't be over thrown.

Things begin to shift,
The chips begin to drift,
I am adrift,
I need a lift.

Down to a few bills,
I get the thrills,
Need to get over these hills,
21 gets me up like Beverly Hills.

The glamor crawls back,
The man is back,
Whole team on his back,
Everyone knows I am now back.

I regain the throne,
The chips are no longer alone,
I am not on my own,
Barona is my home.

Analysis: This poem is about the thrill of gambling and the ups and downs of how gambling can destroy a man. It explains how gambling can become an addiction and the consequences of what can happen if you gamble too much. I believe that people can obtain an addiction and lose all of their money because of the feeling gambling gives you. This poem gives you the actual in person experience you go through while at a Casino gambling. I think I would change the flow of the poem because as I was writing it was kind of difficult to find words that would fit in certain places. It was also a bit repetitive which I didn't like as the author of this poem. I also think I should gone with a poetic format like a haiku because I feel like my poem is kind of mumble jumbo.
